Austin's Tech-Ed Project

Today Austin brought home the project he has been working on in Tech-Ed since the beginning of the school year.

It is a cutting board in the shape of a duck. He had to choose which shape he was going to make, stencil it on the wood, cut the shape out with a jig saw, sanded the sides, sanded the top, engraved it, and lastly, added the oil.

The engraving says: To Mom & Dad, Love Austin - Fall '08.
I think it is absolutely beautiful. The edges are so smooth - like butter! He used six different grades of sand paper to make it super smooth.
He's pretty proud of it. We're going to put it on the fireplace mantle. Jerry & I are pretty proud too!
